Add Your Own Photos

Now you can add photos of what's happening in your church. (Please avoid photos of folks just sitting and eating.) If you have some interesting pics you would like to share with the district, go to Flikr Photos and join up.

 Charge Conference (Click for details)

Your Conference Fair Share for 2011 was mailed to you from the Conference Treasurer's office in July. If you have not received yours call the Conference Treasurer's office at (919) 779-6115.

Coaching Available

Have you hit one of those "rough spots" in ministry? Is the function of your congregation preceded by a big "DYS"?  Has your congregation learned over the years that the perfect solution to every problem is to move the preacher? If so, don't suffer in silence. One product of the reorganization of the Methodist Building is that there are now assistance teams to come and provide help and coaching for pastors individually, for PPRC's, or for whole congregations. Call the district office for details at 919 734-5324 or click goldsborodistrict@nccumc.org

Remember also that each pastor is asked to meet monthly with one of the Cluster Groups for mutual encouragement and support. As we are marching together into the Promised Land, we don't want anyone to die alone in the desert. Call one of the facilitators listed below to find the date and time of their next gathering.

Duke Clergy Health Initiative

For the last two years Goldsboro has been one of two districts involved in a pilot program for the Duke Clergy Health Initiative. This study has provided baseline data about clergymen and women that has never been available before. The next district pastors' meeting on October 26 will be given entirely to the clergy initiative, and will expand its benefits to the clergy who have come into the district since the initiative was begun in 2008. Click here for more information.

Sexual Ethics Training Event:  All clergy under Episcopal appointment are required to attend sexual ethics training regardless of when you last attended.  The Goldsboro District will hold it's training on Oct. 4 from 10am-4pm at Centenary UMC.  A box lunch will be provided, and we are asking that you bring a $5 donation to help defray the cost of the lunch. Centenary UMC is located at 140 E. Market St., Smithfield. Call the district office (919 734-5324) to reserve your place.

All churches are to complete an audit of the financial records annually. For guidance please consult the Audit Guide for Local Churches published by the General Committee on Finance and Administration. For more information, call the Conference Treasurer at 800 849-4433.

Workmen's Comp insurance is not automatically provided for pastors by the Annual Conference. Check your insurance to see whether your church insurance policy covers Workmen's Comp. If you do not have coverage and wish to have it, an affordable source is available at PACT, our conference insurance plan. NC law requires workmen's compensation if a church employees three or more persons. Even if the church employs fewer than three, it may be prudent to secure workmen's compensation insurance.

By now all congregations should have their Safe Sanctuaries policy in place. If you need help in completing yours, please contact Linda Harris at the Methodist Building (919) 779-6115.

Is there someone in your church who feels God may be calling them into ordained ministry? Have them consider the steps into the candidacy process.
